For gas grills, after removing the coarsest incrustations, with the lid closed bring the empty grid up to the maximum temperature for 10 to 15 minutes again. The remaining ashes can be easily removed with a brass brush – not a steel brush! -. Experts speak of pyrolysis in this context.
